Superior Steamed Miost Chocolate Cake

First of all thank you my Muslim  neighbour for  sharing such an easy but premium Steamed Chocolate Cake。  The recipe given to me was  in Bahasa Malaysia.   Hope I got the translation right!   On the topping, I am sharing with you 2 type of chocolate toppings with you!

An old fashioned Steamed Moist Chocolate Cake




 






The cake looks very springy and yet moist and soft!  Its just lovely!

I call this an old fashioned cake as the ingredients is measuring in cups and yet it turned out to be perfect!

Here the recipe to share -

Ingredients
1 cup cocoa powder
1 cup  castor sugar ( I used  1/2 cup)
1 cup milk  ( I used HL milk)
1 cup cooking oil ( i used sunflower oil)
1/2 cup of condensed milk
3 large eggs

Sieve together-
1 1/4 cup flour ( I used cake flour)
1 tsp baking powder
1tsp soda bicarbonate 

Method

Put coco powder, sugar, milk, condensed milk and sunflower oil in small pot and heat up with small fire till all well mixed.
Off the fire.  Set aside to let the batter cool down.
Beat eggs till pale and fluffy.  Add in the cocoa mixture to the egg  and mix well.
Blend n the flour mixture and mix well till all combined.
Pour the mixture 1/2 full  into cake pan, cover with aluminum foil to prevent the steam getting into the cake.
Steam in boiling water for about 35 to 40 mins or when insert a cake tester came out clean.

As for the Chocolate topping, I am sharing 2 type of  topping for your prefer choice.

1.  Chocolate Cream

180gm plain chocolate
80gm butter
80 ml whipping cream
1 tsp kahlua (coffee liqueur)  - Optional

Melt the chocolate in a bowl set over a saucepan of gently simmering water.
Once the chocolate melts, remove from heat and stir in the butter and whipping cream to blend.
Add kahlua to mix (optional).
Leave the chocolate cream aside to set, then spread over the surface and sides of the cake with a palette knife, swirl to create pattern on the chocolate cream.

2.  Chocolate topping

125gm butter
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup condensed milk

Put all the ingredients in a container and double boil and well blended.  Set to cool and spread over the cake as desire.

      1/2 cup - 4oz
      2/3 cup 5.3oz
      3/4 cup - 6oz
      1/4 cup - 2oz
      1 cup milk - 240ml
